Professional Farrier and Blacksmithing Services
Tom Adams grew up in New Haven Missouri. His parents lived on a cattle farm and horses were not allowed. (Something about they eat too much!) Anyhow, Tom wanted to learn about, and own a horse so he voluntered at a local thoroughbred farm as a teenager. Eventually, he purchased his first horse and kept it at this farm. He worked the board off by cleaning stalls, training horses, trimming hooves, foaling, and whatever needed to be done.
He attended college majoring in pre-vet, but soon realized he did not want to be a veterinarian. His friends kept telling him he should continue learning about the hoof and attend a farriers school. So he did, he attended Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School where he received his farrier certification. He learned from one of the best farriers of all time, Reggie Kester.
He came back to New Haven and set up his business. His business grew quickly as he already had a small clientele and word got around that he was back from shoeing school. It was spring and horses needed to be shod. He married Meagan Adams and they moved to Union, Missouri shortly after.
Union was the center of all his clients at the time and remains so today. Tom and Meagan worked side by side quite often for the first several years of his business and they both miss those days. He runs his business mostly by himself now as Meagan is pursuing her career.
Tom had toyed with blacksmithing since he attended OSHS and over the past 8 years he has pursued the craft intently. He has a full shop setup complete with several anvils, forges, and the necessary tools of a modern day blacksmith. He enjoys making traditional and contemporary hand forged items that are both functional and beautiful. He also makes one piece handmade spurs and various other cowboy necessities.
In his spare time Tom enjoys trail riding with his trusty horse, Freckles. He is living the life a cowboy loves and would not change anything about it.
Meagan grew up in Hillsboro, Missouri. She was an animal lover from birth and always wanted horses, but no one in her family had ever had one or knew anything about them. So, she joined 4-H and started learning all she could! It seemed to take forever at the time, but finally at age 10 she got her very first horse, and has never looked back! She has ridden many different types of horses and all disciplines, but once she got into barrel racing at around 16 years old, it has been her passion. After high school, Meagan attended the University of Missouri at Columbia and earned her B.S. in Animal Science. She spent her first several years out of college helping Tom with his shoeing business and working for a veterinary practice, which she very much enjoyed. However, she also loves school and learning and recently started attending classes again, working towards a degree in Accounting. She has completed a Certified Bookkeeper class and now works full time for a busy CPA office.

Along the way, Meagan's "second job" has always been her horses. Time spent away while at college and trouble with keeping her
horse sound kept the going slow on the barrel racing front at first. But, she has never given up and has been able to keep with it
consistently for the past few years. She is constantly learning, which is why she loves barrel racing so much - it has never come easy
and always challenges her! She enjoys putting the "finishing touches" on young started horses and markets a few performance horses
each year, and hopes to grow that area of the business more and more.
